Sex ratio at birth
“The Population and Housing Census 2009 provides us with a very good example of how detailed data should be collected, analyzed and timely disseminated to undertake more robust development planning. Good data is essential for making good decisions, and information on the population census, including age and sex structure, ethnicity, fertility, mortality, sex ratio at birth, migration and urbanization trends, education, qualification, labour and employment, disability and migrants’ living conditions, is crucial to advance development,” Mr Nguyen Sinh Hung, Vice Prime Minister and Chairman of the Central Census Steering Committee, pointed out. He also highlighted that the success of the census was the result of extensive efforts made by the Census Steering Committees at different levels and the General Statistics Office. This has made it possible to release the entire census results.
