The Position:
In 2021, UNFPA developed an Operational Plan on Leaving No One Behind (LNOB) and Reaching the Furthest Behind, which provides UNFPA with a road map to translate into action its ambition to reach the furthest behind as a central tenet of its new Strategic Plan 2022-2025. To implement the Operational Plan an organisational wide approach is needed involving all the different Business Units within UNFPA. This requires dedicated coordination support to ensure timely progress, and coherence across different units, quality control of the deliverables produced, and internal and external communications on the progress and results achieved.
A consultant will support the coordination of this work, quality control of the deliverables produced, and knowledge sharing across UNFPA. The consultant will also support the development of different knowledge products to strengthen technical support to UNFPA country offices in operationalising the principle of leaving no one behind.
Scope of Work:
- Coordinate the successful implementation of UNFPA’s Operational Plan on Leaving No One Behind and Reaching the Furthest Behind 2022-2025 by working in an integrated and coordinated and system strengthening approach across UNFPA’s Business Units
- Support, the development of two specific knowledge products on LNOB for UNFPA staff: i) finalisation and piloting of Guidance Note for country offices to identify, analyse, understand and prioritise Furthest Behind Factors; ii) Training modules on the 8 Global Furthest Behind Factors aligned to UNFPA's new Strategic Plan: 2022-2025
- Support the documentation and sharing of good practices and experiences at country and regional level on leaving no one behind, including through updating and facilitating UNFPA’s ‘Community’ page on Leaving No One Behind”
- Coordinate with Regional Offices to support them in developing strategies and initiatives to roll out the LNOB Operational Plan at the regional level, and to identify gaps in support and capacity development needs of UNFPA Country Offices.
Requirements:
Education
Post-graduate university degree in international relations/development, human rights, management, public administration, Public Health, gender equality.
Experience
- 7 years of relevant and increasingly responsible professional and project management experience in development at the global, regional and international level;
- Knowledge on policy and programming in human rights, non-discrimination and equality are a requirement.
- Previous experience working on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights and Gender Based Violence are an asset.
- Relevant professional experience in coordination within the UN system is an asset;
- Strong interpersonal and analytical skills.
- Strong verbal communication and writing skills, as well as skills in visually presenting material online.
- Fluency in English. Working knowledge of another UN language such as French or Spanish is an asset.
