UNFPA Burkina Faso

One of the world’s least developed countries, Burkina Faso’s population is set to double in the next 20 years. Starting in 1975 with support for a general census, UNFPA has assisted national partners in developing capacities to generate and use population data to devise appropriate policies and programmes and extend reproductive health services, including for adolescents. Current programmes target the need for universal access to sexual and reproductive health, including family planning, reducing maternal mortality, and advocating to increase gender equality.
