Though military operations against ISIS have ended in Iraq, the country’s post-conflict recovery includes a challenging humanitarian crisis with an estimated 8.7 million people in need of humanitarian assistance and protection. The Duhok Women’s Centre has been providing care to gender-based violence survivors since 2014, offering specialized medical, psychological and psychiatric services to Yazidi women. Throughout Iraq, nearly 368,000 women received psychosocial support and recreational activities in 2018 and to June 2019. To build capacity in mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS), a 10-week training programme was conducted to provide specialized care.
