Lao People's Democratic Republic Humanitarian Emergency

Lao PDR is moderately prone to disasters, particularly droughts and floods, and many people live in hard-to-reach mountainous areas. The country has a high adolescent birth rate and one of the highest maternal mortality ratios in the region. UNFPA is co-leading humanitarian preparedness and response in the areas of sexual and reproductive health and gender-based violence prevention and response.
