Bangladesh aspires to become a middle-income country by 2021. Women’s low status in society and high rates of maternal death and illness remain serious concerns, as well as the prevalence of child marriage. Since 1974, UNFPA has helped improve reproductive health care services, working to achieve universal access by emphasizing gender-inclusiveness and human rights.
