Vanuatu Humanitarian Emergency

Vanuatu continues to grapple with El Niño-influenced drought, with many of the most affected areas the same as those which were hit by Category 5 Cyclone Pam last March.  All sectors are working on improving monitoring and early warning systems and the newly elected Government has recently provided $480,000 in emergency El Niño funding for water, sanitation, hygiene, food security and logistics needs.  UNFPA’s contribution is in sexual and reproductive health (SRH) and prevention and response to gender based violence (GBV).
