UNFPA’s Regional Office for Eastern Europe and Central Asia is hosting the first Europe and Central Asia Faith-Based Organizations Forum on Population and Development.
More than 70 religious leaders and representatives of Christian, Muslim and Jewish faith-based organizations from 26 countries will convene in Minsk for the three-day event.
The Forum will focus on enhancing cooperation between faith-based organizations (FBOs) and UNFPA, in order to address important population issues such as maternal health and gender-based violence. Forum participants will develop a platform for future FBO-UNFPA cooperation in the region.
Building on earlier regional faith-based consultations hosted by UNFPA in Africa, Asia and the Pacific, the Middle East and North Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean and the Global Faith-Based Organizations Forum, which took place in Istanbul, Türkiye in October last year, this regional forum will enable Faith Based Organizations to share experience and lessons learned related to maternal health and gender-based violence, among other themes.
