26 - 29 August 2024

United Nations Headquarters

“Again and again, around the world, women and girls with the least resources suffer most from problems not of their making,” UNFPA Executive Director Dr. Natalia Kanem said at the first regular session of the Executive Board earlier this year. “Wherever they may be, UNFPA aims to stand by their side.”

The Executive Board will continue the conversation when it holds its second regular session of the year from 26 to 29 August, with Dr. Kanem delivering a statement during the morning segment of the first day.

The full work plan for the second regular session can be found here.

The Executive Board provides intergovernmental support and supervision of the activities of UNFPA, UNDP and UNOPS, in accordance with the policy guidance of the General Assembly, the Economic and Social Council, and the United Nations Charter.

The board ensures that UNDP, UNFPA and UNOPS remain responsive to the evolving needs of programme countries, and supports the work of UNFPA in delivering a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every birth is safe, and every young person's potential is fulfilled.

The session can be followed via UN Web TV:
