The Position:

The Communication Analyst is responsible for enhancing the information flow and visibility of UNFPA through different media outlets including Egypt Country Office (CO) website and for supporting the implementation of the UNFPA CO communications strategy in accordance with corporate policies and standards. You will deliver quality support in developing, supporting the CO communication, scan the media on relevant UNFPA topics, and engage the media services to tell the UNFPA stories.   

You will report directly to the Advocacy & Communication Specialist.

Job Purpose:

In the UNFPA country office in Egypt and in the context of the implementation of the 11th Country Programme, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth dissemination of life  stories of vulnerable populations and the transformations in their lives. You will be part of the programme team and build close relationships with the operations teams, Regional and HQs-based Communications team, national counterparts, implementing partners as well as the UN agencies for efficient and effective delivery of quality support in communications. 

You will ensure accurate and reliable data and information are available and reported in a timely manner to the media and on the web, with required accountability to the population and according to professional ethical standards, in line with UNFPA guidelines and procedures.  

 

You would be responsible for:

Communications Strategy support: 

  • Support the Communications & Advocacy Specialist in the development of  communications, including digital, content and strategies;
  • Create and deliver a variety of engaging content addressing gender social norms in the Arabic language that target a variety of key audiences, including the general public;
  • Manage Arabic knowledge products that support different programme interventions 
  • Provide inputs to develop line of communications for media relations and web design to position UNFPA in the communications landscape in Egypt;

 

Media engagement: 

  • Scan continuously the print and video media – national, regional and international operators - landscape in Egypt, and analyze their scope and interest for stories in sexual and reproductive health, including family planning, particularly featuring women, adolescents and young people;
  • Explore and generate media interest in newsworthy stories produced in the context of UNFPA programme;
  • Maintain frequent contacts with local media outlets to release media content on UNFPA matters;
  • Liaise with UN agencies, partner agencies and national stakeholders to produce newsworthy stories on joint issues such as FGM, Gender and social norms, GBV against women and girls, Demographic Dividend, etc.;
  • Ensure media coverage of UNFPA flagship report SWOP, and other mile stone activities and organize launching events;

  

Dynamic web design and management 

  • Ensure accurate, timely and effective delivery of web content, optimized for search and audience engagement;
  • Monitor web visits, analyze trends and provide continuous feedback for improvement in design and content;
  • Update regularly web content populating with news stories from programme team
  • Provide support to identify crowd sourcing opportunities to participate in UNFPA activities, including fund raising; 

 

Any other duties as assigned by the Advocacy & Communication Specialist, Assistant Representative and/or UNFPA Representative.
