The Digital Communications Officer position is located in the Media & Communications Branch of the Division of Communications and Strategic Partnerships (DCS) and is part of the Digital Communications Team. The Digital Communications Officer will report to the Digital Communications Specialist.
The Digital Communications Officer will oversee the implementation of the UNFPA Social Media Management platform for 130 UNFPA Country Offices and will work closely with UNFPA communication focal points worldwide.
The Digital Communications Officer will assist in the alignment of UNFPA’s visual identity and design system online by supporting the upgrade of the Content Management System (Drupal 7 to Drupal 8 and 9) for 130 websites, while performing quality assurance of migrated content and functionalities and ongoing maintenance of Country Office websites.
The incumbent will have great attention to detail and will be experienced in digital communications, social media, web management, UX/UI design and quality assurance processes.
Main tasks and responsibilities:
- Provide appropriate and timely response to UNFPA country office queries for web and social media management platforms
- Identify training needs and organize online training sessions for communications focal points on the content management system (Drupal) and the social media management platform (Social Studio)
- Create, update and optimize training materials and user guides as needed
- Monitor Country Office websites to ensure adherence to UNFPA Communications Strategy and Website Policy
- Review content published on UNFPA Country Office websites to ensure quality and consistency with UNFPA Web Writing Guidelines
- Liaise with Country Office focal points to identify requirements and needs
- Communicate with developers to identify and correct system malfunctions
- Provide data on country offices website traffic for digital reports
- Support the Digital Communications Specialist with the management of digital projects and other products
- Maintain the Social Media groups and login credentials of all Country Offices
- Maintain an updated database of the specific roles and responsibilities of Country Office Communications Officers
- Perform other duties as required

Requirements:
- Undergraduate degree in Communications, Advertising, Marketing, Public Relations, Digital technologies, Journalism, Business Administration, Management Information Systems or similar field
- Strong understanding of social media platforms, management and strategy
- Knowledge of design and web standards
- Strong understanding of content management systems
- Experience wireframing and prototyping, conceptualization, design and implementation of digital projects
- Experience in project management, UX/UI design and quality assurance
- Demonstrate critical thinking skills and ability to make informed decisions
- Experience with Learning Management Systems is a plus
- Experience working with web development teams
- Proven service orientation with attention to detail
- Knowledge of Google analytics and reporting tools
- Familiarity with international development issues
- Fluency in English, knowledge of another UN language is a strong advantage.
