Location: New York (Consultant can work from home or based in NYC at UNFPA HQ)
Duration: early February 2023 until the end of 2023. The consultant can be hired on a full or part-time basis.
Purpose of consultancy:
UNFPA launched the new UNFPA 2030 People, aligned and in support of UNFPA’s Strategic Plan 2022-25. In this context, DHR is looking for a highly motivated junior consultant to a) support the implementation of UNFPA’s People Strategy and b) specifically support the design and implementation of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives globally.
Scope of work:
For the implementation of UNFPA’s new People Strategy, the junior DEI consultant will assist with the full life cycle of DEI initiatives, from strategic formulation to their delivery.
More specifically, the consultant will:
- Provide research, data analysis and recommendations to the constant evolving DEI agenda and work portfolio
- Create and manage communication materials e.g. UNFPA DEI intranet page, communication posts, videos, digital content on DEI issues and topics
- Support the design and the implementation of UNFPA’s DEI related training and activities
- Coordinate activities and logistical aspects of DEI related events
- Provide assistance in the interactions with stakeholders as needed
- Support procurement and vendor management
In addition, carry out any other duties as may be required by the Diversity and Inclusion Specialist.
The consultant would report to the Diversity and Inclusion Specialist.
Required expertise, qualifications and competencies, including language requirements:
Education:
Master’s (preferred) with a minimum of 1 year of professional experience
Knowledge and experience:
- Some professional experience in the formulation of DEI strategies and implementation
- Strong written and oral communication skills, comfortable at speaking in front of larger audiences
- Design, creation and management of intranet communication pages
- Strong skills in PowerPoint, Excel, Word
- Experience with UN or in multinational context desired
Languages: working knowledge in English required; knowledge of additional UN language such as French, Spanish, Arabic is desired.
Other relevant information or special conditions, if any:
Consultancy can be full-time or part-time, depending on business needs. In case the selected candidate works remotely, it is required that the consultant will have access to a PC with reliable internet to perform the functions of the position.
