Background:
UNFPA is the leading global advocate on sexual and reproductive health, maternal and child health and HIV prevention. UNFPA ESARO with funding through the European Union and the Governments of Sweden and Norway implemented the SRHR/HIV Linkages Project in seven Southern African countries. This pilot project aimed to link SRHR/HIV in policy documents, develop national guidelines to guide the integration of SRHR/HIV services and to document lessons learnt from the provision of integrated SRHR/HIV services to improve the health and wellbeing of all.
Scope of Work:
The consultant will undertake the following actions:
- Review and edit the regional report of the SRHR/HIV Linkages Project to ensure that the language and style reflects that of UNFPA.
- Develop a summary of the Regional Report not exceeding 8 pages that 1) summarises the project, 2) captures key accomplishments and lessons learnt drawing upon the evaluation and other sources of information in accordance with three expected results of the project.
- Develop summary reports from each of the seven (7) country reports on the SRHR/HIV Linkages project, not exceeding 8 pages that: 1) summarises the project, 2) captures key accomplishments and lessons learnt drawing upon the evaluation in accordance with three expected results of the project:
- The consultant is expected to work with the SRHR/HIV Programme Specialist and the agency appointed to design the reports to provide ideas or thoughts about information graphics (info graphics) and/or other design elements that can be used to enhance the report.
- The publications produced through this consultancy are expected to be printed and used on web platforms that promote SRHR/HIV integration.
Duration and working schedule:
This work will require 15 person days over two months
Required expertise, qualifications and competencies, including language requirements
The consultant must meet the following minimum criteria:
- A post-graduate degree in journalism, communication, Public Health or related field
- 7 years experience in conceptualizing, editing and preparing publications on public health matters for policy makers and decision makers
- Demonstrate an ability to write clear and comprehensive reports
- Demonstrate an ability to unpack technical content relating to SRHR/HIV for different audiences and formats
- Excellent English writing skills
