Consultancy - Humanitarian Health Supplies Group Coordinator

Duration: 11 Months

Location: Remote, supporting the Humanitarian Office in Geneva. 

Position:

Under the goal to advance the work under the humanitarian health supplies group, support in the coordination of the interagency group, implementation of regular meetings among partners to address key topics and explore new pieces of work, and the implementation of key activities as outlined in the work plan.

Scope of Work:

Coordination

  • Reignite the humanitarian health supplies working group
  • Represent the humanitarian health supplies working group in the interagency pharmaceutical coordination group
  • Organise bi-yearly HHS consultations
  • Engage with members and outreach to new members with added value (UN agencies, international NGOs, private sector and others) to identify and disseminate best practices and innovations.
  • Engage with Logistics and Health Clusters

Activities coordination and Product Development

  • Ensure/facilitate implementation of the HHS working group priorities, as outlined by the members.
  • Lead the development of materials/tools as identified by the working group

Requirements:

Education

Masters/Advanced degree and two years of relevant experience.

Experience

  • At least 4 years (2 years with a postgraduate degree) of progressively responsible functions in humanitarian or interagency health coordination.
  • Proven experience with Project Management and ability to achieve quality results, on time, and within budget.
  • Ability to coordinate a range of diverse actors and activities to achieve a common objective in the area of Health and logistics.
  • Proven ability to deal with multiple tasks in a courteous and service-oriented manner in demanding working conditions that often have short deadlines.
  • Proven technical expertise in the area of health procurement or SCM management.
  • Exposure to UNFPA and WHO mandates, their priorities and principles.
  • Experience working with the private sector and innovation for health and logistics.
  • Previous experience with facilitation of interagency coordination groups in humanitarian response.
  • Previous exposure to UN sector approach, preferably both at the global policy level and at field implementation approach.
  • Expertise in humanitarian health and health supplies used as part of humanitarian operations
  • Experience with emergency procurement and emergency logistics.

 Languages

  • Excellent knowledge of English (written / oral / comprehension) is essential.
  • Working knowledge of another UN language (preferably Arabic, French or Spanish) is desirable.
