Position:
In January 2021, Dr. Natalia Kanem has taken on the role of Interagency Standing Committee Champion on Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse and Sexual Harassment. A core objective of the Championship is to strengthen leadership, coordination and accountability at country level.
To take these priorities forward, UNFPA is implementing several key deliverables, including a roster of PSEA Coordinators for deployment to humanitarian settings. The appointment of dedicated interagency-agency PSEA Coordinators to manage PSEA country networks under the leadership of the Resident and/or Humanitarian Coordinator is a necessary component to ensure leadership and accountability of country PSEA coordination mechanisms.
Under its championship, UNFPA has built a roster of vetted interagency PSEA Coordinators to serve the humanitarian system. The consultancy is required to establish and manage a deployment and support function within the IASC Secretariat to ensure the coordinated appointment of PSEA Coordinators to humanitarian settings in line with IASC PSEA priorities.
In consultation with Humanitarian Coordinators and other relevant stakeholders, the consultant will support selection, deployment and contract management of PSEA Coordinators and provide technical and administrative assistance to PSEA Coordinators on the ground.
Scope of Work:
This consultancy will be performed at a remote workplace and will require the consultant to provide adequate equipment including computer, communications technology, internet access, etc. Travel, including to hardship duty stations, may also be undertaken as required.
All work products, both electronic and hard copy, produced by the consultant as a result of this engagement are owned by UNFPA and shall be submitted to the PSEAH Coordinator as per agreed upon deadlines.
Ongoing monitoring of the work will be conducted by the PSEAH Coordinator. Regular updates in writing will be expected as agreed upon.
The consultant will be under the administrative supervision of the UNFPA PSEAH Coordinator, and work under the technical guidance and oversight of the IASC Secretariat.
Requirements:
Education:
Advanced university degree in one of the following disciplines: International Development, Public Administration, Human Resources, Business Management Public Health, Sociology, Gender (including GBV), or related field
Experience:
- A minimum of 7 years’ relevant professional experience;
- Previous relevant experience in the Humanitarian context highly desirable;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Fluency in English is required, fluency in French desired Working knowledge of other UN official languages an advantage.
