OVERVIEW
 
To address growing need for GBV in emergencies (GBViE) specialists with the appropriate core competencies to deliver effective GBViE programs and adequately respond to GBV in humanitarian settings, UNFPA is engaged in a capacity development initiative that aims to support and develop the Core Competencies of ‘Emerging GBViE Practitioners’ as well as ‘Experienced GBViE Practitioners’. As part of the initiative UNFPA,as leader of the GBV AoR, will set up a virtual Community of Practice (CoP). to promote best practice and build common capability in GBViE across the field as well as expand their competencies. The member-based, virtual CoP, hosted on the Global Protection Cluster platform, will be for emerging and experienced practitioners working in the field of GBViE or a related field. 
 
The consultant will be expected to: lead and guide the CoP; design and plan CoP activities; implement full rollout CoP activities; obtain and manage CoP content; facilitate and manage interactive components of CoP; foster regular, meaningful, and constructive participation in CoP; and sustain day-to-day online functioning of CoP and CoP administration; as well as keep the platform alive, ensure quality, and monitor and evaluate learning objectives. 
 
TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
Lead, Manage, & Facilitate all CoP Activities and related Partnerships
- Lead and guide CoP and foster leadership within the members to drive group forward, set priorities, identify needs, set goals and plans for achievement create and curate content, lead discussion, enable forward momentum and hone focus, and grow community membership;
- Engaging members to foster and grow discussion and their regular, meaningful, and constructive participation in the network as well as in collaborative learning and knowledge sharing activities, group projects, and networking events that meet goals and increase participation and contribution;
- Manage and sustain day-to-day online functioning, administration, and foster active participation;
- Act as a thematic resource person providing basic technical support on GBViE content areas and related capacity building, guidance and general support to GBViE CoP users. Contribute to building the capacities of members through a combination of formal activities and mentoring; 

- Provide basic technological support to members regarding participating in the CoP and using the website and support efforts to address technological, language, and other challenges;
- Build Partnerships with relevant counterparts, strategic partners, other CoPs, local, national and international practitioners, policy-makers and researchers.
- Develop content: using Participants’ Priority Learning Needs and UNFPA guidance to facilitate regular exchanges, conversation and groups discussion, collect resources, case studies, toolkits, best practices, lessons learned, useful articles and reports.
- Organizing, managing, highlighting key documents and resources  
- Sharing news, announcements of external events, conferences, etc..
- Linking to external resources, learning opportunities, webinars, other CoPs and social media
- Foster active participation in CoP, including: managing relationships and addressing problems; moderating and facilitating discussions, learning activities, and opportunities for collaboration
- Identify emerging community roles, collaborative project opportunities, and subgroups to support emerging group activities and recruit members to fill them;
 
EXPECTED DELIVERABLES
 
- A clear CoP Workplan to identify milestone of the CoP rollout
- Documentation of learning and good practices that have emerged during the Co facilitation summarizing facilitation, management, and administrative activities
- Additional communications material and case studies highlighting CoP successes
 
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
 
- Advanced university degree or equivalent in gender studies, social anthropology, public health, or other related field
- 5 to 7 years of field-level humanitarian, GBV, GBViE or related work experience carried out in humanitarian, transition, or fragile field contexts
- Experience of working across multiple humanitarian sectors and proven knowledge of humanitarian architecture and coordination mechanisms.
- Experience in interagency cooperation is highly desirable
- Excellent knowledge in theory and practice of GBViE prevention and response, including the survivor-centered approach, GBViE core principles, and the multi-sectorial GBV response
- Full understanding on cluster and humanitarian architecture in particular of the Global Protection Cluster
- Significant professional contacts in the field of GBViE and related fields
- High degree of familiarity, proficiency, and ease with social media and online communities
- Superior skills in facilitation, group management, and collaborative learning with a strong preference for those using technology platforms as a tool for learning, collaboration, and group work
- Proven experience in Adult Education, Capacity Building, Education/Training, planning and evaluating trainings, collaborative learning, or other learning activities Ability to work with a wide range of diverse stakeholders such as national and international NGOs, governments and local authorities, donors, international organizations
- Experience in the effective design and implementation of data collection and analysis including in cross-cultural environments and complex security environments
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills: the ability to successfully and effectively communicate with people in a multi-cultural environment, across time zones and continents
- Fluency and excellent communication skills in English in written and oral format. Good knowledge of French is highly desirable.
