The Position:
Under the overall direction of the UNFPA Representative in Jordan and direct supervision of Humanitarian Coordinator, the incumbent will be working closely with the GBV Programme Analyst to coordinate Gender/ GBV prevention and response programme coordination & monitoring including GBV IMS. The GBV Specialist works in close collaboration with Programme Officers and Operations staff. The GBV Specialist works in an integrated manner with other UN Organizations, technical staff in the government and civil society organizations to ensure successful implementation of UNFPA- supported Gender/ GBV prevention and response programmes. GBV Specialist works in partnerships with other cluster coordinators and chairs the GBV Inter-Agency Working Group, and ensures the learning from the humanitarian intervention feeding the strategic development of the regular programme. Qualifications and Experience:
Education:
Advanced degree in social work or other social sciences, public health, community health, international relations, international law, human rights or related field;
Knowledge and Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in gender issues and their application in international humanitarian or development settings;
- Practical experience in GBV programme development and management and technical knowledge and experience in GBV prevention and response using a survivor-centered approach highly desirable
- Experience in humanitarian coordination particularly in area of GBV is required;
- Previous experience with the GBV IMS is highly desirable
- Knowledge of the humanitarian reform process and roles/responsibilities of humanitarian actors;
- Awareness and demonstrable knowledge of gender issues and their relevance in humanitarian emergency settings;
- Demonstrable knowledge of reproductive health issues and/or protection issues in humanitarian settings, and of humanitarian emergency operations and roles/responsibilities of humanitarian actors;
- Experience working directly with survivors of GBV is recommended
- Experience in program management;
- Field experience is a strong asset
