The Position:
The GBV Response Specialist is responsible for providing technical assistance and strategic support for quality multi sectoral GBV response services delivered through UNFPA programmes and partnerships including implementation of the Essential Services Package for Women and Girls Subject to Violence. In particular, the Specialist will coordinate multi-country implementation of Women at the Centre: Rising Up Against the Pandemic of Violence Against Women, a project to pilot social workforce accreditation and case management capacity development. The position will also require a high level of coordination with UNFPA and more particularly the Gender, Human Rights Branch, Regional and Country offices as well as the Humanitarian office. It will also require coordination across UN agencies, donors and member States.
The GBV Response Specialist will report directly to the Technical Adviser, Gender Based Violence, within the Gender and Human Rights Branch, Technical Division.

Job Purpose:
The GBV Response Specialist will support the Gender and Human Rights Branch/Technical Division in strengthening global GBV response capacity, through the development of UNFPA partnerships with national and academic institutions engaged in social services training and administration. Intensive technical support to UNFPA country offices and multi sectoral partners will be crucial in order to launch and coordinate a five-country project to design and implement social service workforce education and credentialling. The position will also support UNFPA implementation of the modules of the Essential Services Package for Women and Girls Subject to Violence more generally and related programme interventions and technical publications.
Learning and technical products developed from the project will provide a basis for preparation of a global model for future scale up. This role is key in monitoring project progress and ensuring information exchange among relevant stakeholders.
The GBV Response Specialist’s role will include support for advocacy, development, and evaluation of GBV policies and programming as well as knowledge management and resource mobilization.
Education:
Advanced university degree in social work, gender, public health, international development, or other related discipline.
Knowledge and Experience:
● 7 years of increasingly responsible professional work experience in in developing, implementing, managing and evaluating GBV response services.
● Practical experience with GBV case management systems and referral mechanisms
● Experience in developing SOPs, guidelines, training materials, assessments, and tools for GBV response services
● Excellent knowledge and understanding of international GBV guidelines and resources
● Experience in integrating MHPSS and SRHR access and services into GBV programming is an asset
● Proven communications and interpersonal skills, IT literacy, and organizational skills
● Strong track record of technical leadership, and proven ability to produce demonstrable results
● Familiarity with UN systems and procedures, management and monitoring tools is desirable
Languages:
Fluency in English; knowledge of other official UN languages, preferably French and/or Spanish, is desirable.
