Position Summary

UNFPA Country Office (CO) is seeking for an individual consultant or consultancy company to support its Maternal and Neonatal Mortality Reduction Project in Bioko Norte and Kie Ntem regions, funded by Noble Energy company, in its Health Technology component.

The purpose of this consultancy is to support the preparatory phase of health facilities refurnishing foreseen within the framework of the project, in order to ensure substantive quality of this specific component. Health technology expert consultant should ensure the state-of-the-art medical technology is applied, technical requirements, standards and procedures are followed; internationally established tools and guidance are used; and procurement decisions taken are evidence-based and adapted to local context and needs.

UNFPA is willing to hire a Company or Individual Professional able to provide an independent health technology consultancy, to support health facilities refurnishing in terms of health equipment, medical devices and supplies. The objective of this consultancy is to provide technical assistance in the framework of UNFPA Noble Energy project, for the mentioned health technology component, in order to ensure accuracy and pertinence of the foreseen health technology procurement.

Qualifications and Experience

For Individual Consultants:

  • University Degree (ideally 4/5-years degree) in healthcare, engineering or substantive area,  preferably with specialization in health technology;
  • 7 years of increasingly responsible professional experience in substantive area;
  • Demonstrated expertise in substantive area, ideally in reproductive, maternal and neonatal health technology;
  • Experience in similar needs assessment & planning work (desirable);
  • Knowledge of Equatorial Guinea health context is an asset;
  • Fluency in oral and written Spanish and English/French;
  • Good planning and organisational skills.

For Companies:

  • Should be an accredited and registered professional company, and must have on its team:
  • At least one health technology expert.
  • Sound portfolio and experience in the substantive area;
  • Demonstrated expertise in substantive area, ideally in reproductive, maternal and neonatal health technology;
  • Experience in similar needs assessment & planning work (desirable);
  • Knowledge of Equatorial Guinea health context is an asset;
  • Fluency in oral and written Spanish and English/French;
  • Good planning and organisational skills.
