The position:

UNFPA is mandated globally to work with governments and other development partners to decrease maternal mortality, improve the health of women/ newborns and improve the healthy family relations among men, women and families. RH Coordinator to help in improvement of RH related planning, coordination, monitoring and establishing partnership among all stakeholders, manage/ coordinate the support of UNFPA with MOH.  

Although armed conflict has decreased in Iraq since first half of 2018, reproductive health concerns for women remains high, and there is continued need for humanitarian services in camps, host communities and areas of return. OCHA latest estimates of 1.8m internal displacement people in 119 camps across Iraq. Majority of camps are in Ninewa, Dohok and Anbar, where 84% of displaced people live.

Having established four humanitarian hubs in Duhok, Suleimaniya, Baghdad and Erbil, with the functioning as the main hub for overall management and coordination of the entire UNFPA humanitarian response in the country. 

Under the overall supervision and guidance of UNFPA Representative the Humanitarian Reproductive Health Programme Coordinator will be based in Erbil to provide oversight and technical leadership to all Four hubs in all matters related to reproductive health, Coordinate RH related programmes and activities with Implementing partners, MOH and other partners.

Job Purpose:

Overall coordination for effective and efficient implementation of the reproductive health component of UNFPA, Strengthen the capacity of RH in terms of planning, coordination, monitoring and partnership building and contribution to the UN Strategic Response Plan (SRP) for the IDP crisis, and the UN Regional Response and Resilience Plan (RRRP) for the Syrian Refugees.

Requirements:

Qualifications and Experience

Education:  

• Advanced University degree in Medicine/Health sciences, Public Health, 

Knowledge and Experience: 

• 7 years of relevant professional experiences in humanitarian technical assistance, programming and management in reproductive health or public health.

• Knowledge of UNFPA humanitarian Fast Track procedures is an advantage

• Experience in working in hardship fragile context is an advantage

• Proficiency in current office software applications;

Languages: 

• Fluency in English is required. Good knowledge of Arabic is an asset
