International consultant for upgrading under-graduate and postgraduate midwifery curricula and facilitate cooperation and partnerships arrangement
Duration: 3 weeks/15 working days excluding travel

Introduction:
The overall objective of this consultancy is to provide technical assistance on the revision of existing educaton midwifery curricula according to the international standards. The selected consultant will work with the UNFPA Project team as well as technical working group members at the School of Nursing and Midwifery of the Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences.
Description of services required
• Review and finalize the revised draft of midwifery curricula developed by the faculty members of MNUMS based on revised job descriptions of midwives and current requirement from ICM and WHO (Note: Background documents will be available for consultant’s review)
• Facilitate the national consultation meeting with all partners involved in midwifery education and agree on the key milestones to implement updated curricula and adaptation of required textbooks and different types of simulators (manikins and simulated patients)
• Conduct a training workshop (2-3 days) for faculty members and selected midwifery educators on the new curricula implementation along with aseessment tools
• Organize a round table discussion with University staff to explore further possible cooperation and setting up a long term partnership including exchange program with potential universities on midwifery education
Key deliverables
• Final version of revised curricula agreed by national consultative meeting and ready to approve by MNUMS (selected texbooks and student logbooks) by the end of the third quarter 2018
• A training workshop developed and delivered to 20 trainers by end of April, 2018
• A list of pre-identified partnership arrangements, including possible exchange program by end of the consultancy
• Mission report (template will be provided by the UNFPA) within the two calendar weeks
Qualifications and requirements
- At least 10-15 years of experience in midwifery education with specific focus on curricula development and its implementation
- Previous experience in international consultancy for developing countries in the field of midwifery service provision
- Good knowledge on the current ICM and WHO guidelines on midwifery practice
- Excellent skills and knowledge transfer and interpersonal skills
- Fluency in English is required
