The Position:

UNFPA is seeking an International Consultant for Y-PEER Humanitarian Manual Adaptation to Afghanistan Context.

Considering the growing humanitarian situation and to accommodate the needs of Afghan youth for awareness raising and access to services, the purpose of this the purpose of this contract is for the individual international consultant to provide curriculum adaptations/revision services based on the existing curriculum/module of the Y-PEER Humanitarian Manual to the context of Afghanistan with active engagement of Y-PEER members.

About Y-PEER

The Y-PEER network in Afghanistan has been actively working since 2016 and trained thousands of youth across the country. Y-PEER is a global peer education network that connects thousands of young people. It aims to promote adolescent and youth health and wellbeing, including in humanitarian settings and to empower young people at different levels through peer to peer approach. Y-PEER utilises numerous training tools, including Training of Trainers (ToT) for youth in humanitarian, theatre-based techniques and others.

Qualifications and Experience: 

Education:

  • Advanced university degree in social science or related field with a focus on humanitarian programming,, public health, or other relevant fields related to youth development, community mobilisation, and management.

Professional experience:    

  • At least 7 years experiences in research and developing training curriculum handbooks
  • Demonstrated understanding of issues related to adolescent and youth with a focus on peer education training curriculum
  • Extensive experience  in qualitative research, developing training handbooks and facilitators guide, and excellent report writing skills
  • Demonstrated organisational skills: the ability to work independently and productively with multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated understanding of issues related to confidentiality, data safety and other ethical concerns related to the sharing of sensitive data between humanitarian agencies
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills: the ability to liaise with people successfully and effectively in a wide range of functions in a multicultural environment
  • Experience in providing training in Peer Education is an asset
  • Familiar with Afghanistan context is desirable
  • Training experience in an Islamic country is desirable

Language requirements: Fluent in English.

Knowledge of Arabic, Dari or Pashto is an advantage.
