Position Summary:
Under the guidance of the UNFPA Representative, the International Programme Coordinator plays a leadership role in the formulation, coordination and management of PNG Country Programme implementation, monitoring and evaluation. This includes ensuring the integration of population, sexual and reproductive health, youth and gender dimensions in the broader development agenda. The International Programme Coordinator contributes to the strengthening of the Country Office capacity to deliver quality programmes. The International Programme Coordinator engages national counterparts, bilateral and multilateral donor agencies and development partners, civil society organizations and community based organizations to facilitate delivery of the country programme.
Requirements:
Qualifications and Experience
Education:
Advanced University Degree in public health, medicine, sociology, demography, gender, economics, international relations, international development, public administration, management or other related field.
Knowledge and Experience:
Five years of increasingly responsible professional experience in developmental work
Substantive knowledge and practical experience in population, sexual and reproductive health, youth and gender programming
Strong communications and writing skills in English and in the relevant UN working language in the region
Field experience is a strong asset.
Proficiency in current office software applications.
Languages:
Fluency in English is required.
Other desirable skills
Takes initiative, strong conceptual and analytical abilities, sound judgement, strong interest in development work, particularly the ICPD mandate and the principles of the United Nations.
