The Position:

Under the direct supervision of UNFPA staff members in the Division for Human Resources, the 12+ interns will support their team in one (or more) of the following areas:

HR Business Partnering

HR Communications & Outreach

HR Data & Analytics

HR Knowledge Management

HR Operations & People Strategy

HR Policy

Leadership Development

Learning & Development

Organizational Design & Performance

Talent Management & Career Development

Staff Well-Being

The interns and their respective  supervisors will agree upon an actionable work plan that clearly delineates the learning opportunities and achievements to be made during the duration of the internship. Periodic meetings will lead to a beneficial environment for the interns to enhance their skills and knowledge in areas related to UNFPA’s overarching mandates, the Division for Human Resources, and the new People Strategy.

Due to current COVID-19 restrictions (which may change), the interns may partly or fully work from home, working collaboratively with their supervisors by email, Google Workspace, and Zoom.

Qualifications

Fluency in English (in reading, writing, speaking, and listening) is required. Knowledge of other UN languages is an asset e.g. French, Spanish.

Applicants to UNFPA’s internship programme must meet the following requirements at the time of their application:

A.      Be enrolled in a postgraduate degree programme (such as a Master’s programme or higher);

B.      Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (such as a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent);

C.      Have recently graduated with a university degree (as defined in (A) and (B) above) and, if selected, must start the internship within one year of their graduation;

D.     Be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship programme and undertake the internship as part of this programme.
