Background:
As of January 2019, UNFPA Namibia will commence the implementation of its 6th UNFPA/Government of Namibia Country Programme (2019-2023) focusing on: systems strengthening to enhance access to youth-friendly integrated sexual and reproductive health services, including HIV prevention and gender-based violence response; specifically for adolescents, young women; indigenous and vulnerable communities including women and young people with disabilities. The UN system will also initiate the implementation of the United Nations Partnership Assistance Framework (UNPAF) 2019-2023 with a broad scope of work geared towards eradicating poverty and reducing inequality.
The UNFPA Namibia CO currently has a staff profile of 13 staff on Fixed Term contract (FTA): 1 P5 (International), 1 NOD, 2 NOC, 2 NOB, 1 G7, 2 G6, 1 G3, 1 G2, two Service Contract (SC) and 1 UNV. The JPO will be working under the direct supervision of the Assistant Representative, but will also liaise with the Programme Specialists working on HIV Prevention/Family Planning and Gender for coordination and integrated programme implementation.

Education and Experience:

  • Postgraduate degree in Public Health, Nursing/Midwifery, Medicine or related fields with specialized knowledge in the field of Adolescents Sexual and Reproductive Health, health policy and programme management
  • At least 2 years of experience preferably in programme/project management
  • Prior experience in middle income countries is an asset.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Knowledge of other working languages of the UN  is an asset
  • Ability to write clearly and concisely
