The Position:
<
Purpose of consultancy: |
This consultancy aims to empower youth leaders from youth network associations from various regions and communities of Guinea-Bissau with the skills and knowledge required to lead their communities effectively and develop sustainable business ventures. In addition, the consultancy aims to equip UNFPA interns and fellows with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively engage in leadership roles and actively participate in organizational and community-based initiatives.
Background UNFPA is the lead UN agency for delivering a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe and every young person's potential is fulfilled. UNFPA’s strategic plan (2022-2025), reaffirms the relevance of the current strategic direction of UNFPA and focuses on three transformative results: (i) ending preventable maternal deaths, (ii) ending unmet need for family planning, and (iii) ending gender-based violence, including harmful practices such as female genital mutilation and child marriage towards realizing the ICPD and SDGs in the Decade of Action leading up to 2030.
The UNFPA’s strategic plan calls upon UN Member States, organizations and individuals to “build forward better”, while addressing the negative impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic on women’s and girls’ access to sexual and reproductive health and reproductive rights, recover lost gains and realize our goals.
In a world where fundamental human rights are at risk, we need principled and ethical staff, who embody these international norms and standards, and who will defend them courageously and with full conviction. UNFPA is seeking candidates that transform, inspire and deliver high impact and sustained results; we need staff who are transparent, exceptional in how they manage the resources entrusted to them and who commit to deliver excellence in programme results.
The youth and youth institutions play a fundamental role in youth involvement and participatory decision-making. Acquiring leadership skills is essential in order to boost the involvement of young people in decision-making and also to make their organizations more efficient in their actions. A series of training activities, exchanges of experiences and coaching in different youth spaces ("summer camps") are therefore proposed.
The UNFPA country office in Guinea-Bissau is looking for a national consultant to carry out a series of training courses on leadership, entrepreneurship and provide training to the beneficiaries of the internship programme.
