The Position:

The post of ICT associate is located in Suva, Fiji as part of the UNFPA Pacific Sub regional Office. S/he provides support to the office on ICT and coordinates ICT related initiatives. S/He receives policy and Technical support from the ITSO branch. The incumbent is responsible for overseeing the implementation of UNFPA ICT policies, systems, networking and security standards, and coordination of technical support needs in the Pacific Sub Regional office and across the joint presence at the country levels.

Job Purpose:

In direct support of UNFPA'S Regional strategy to achieve the ICPD and the Sustainable Development Goals and in concert with ITSO ICT policies, strategies and plans, the ICT Associate ensures the proper and effective use of ICT in the Pacific Sub Regional Offices delivering the following key results;

1. Implementation of corporate ICT strategies and plans

2. Effective Customer Support

3. Management of Resources

4. confidentiality, integrity and availability of ICT systems

You would be responsible for:

A. Ensures that corporate ICT strategies and plans are correctly implemented and appropriate for the sub regional office

  • Analysis of corporate ICT strategies and plans and adapt them to the sub regional environment and conditions
  • identify the needs and modified ICT strategies or plans and review and initiate or propose actions to HQ as required

B. Ensures effective customer support in the areas of information technology and telecommunications by providing computer training as well as troubleshooting and adhoc technical assistance to users

  • Provide technical and policy advice on ICT matters
  • Maintain and upgrade the existing systems including trouble shooting and continued user support
  • collaborate with the ITSO to define the ICT training policies, and preparation of training modules and materials for staff in the sub regional office

C. Provides accountability for information Technology resources through evaluation of office IT needs, cost effective procurement and installation, sound maintenance, maintaining software/hardware standards, and regular inventory and reporting hardware, peripherals and software

  • Design and participate in the planning, preparation and monitoring of the sub regional office ICT budgets and plans and ensure incorporation of the ICT needs into project proposals
  • manage the deployment of IT, telecommunication and connectivity systems including budgeting for the voice and data networks

D. Ensures the confidentiality, integrity and availability of the ICT System, LAN/WAN and data security, including user access to computer and telecommunications facilities while

  •  monitoring the inter/intranet functionality, security and integrity
  • Provide emergency communication capabilities in support of staff security and ensure that the minimum security telecommunications standards are complied to 
  • Maintain a roster of qualified technical service and equipment providers
  • Conduct periodic tests of disaster recovery arrangements

E. Perform other job related duties as assigned by the management, including but not limited to maintaining ICT assets, maintenance of the inventory and stock of ICT supplies and spare parts, act as the global directory and BCP Focal point and contribute to knowledge networks and communities of practice.

Qualifications and Experience: 

Education:

  1. Secondary education; first level university degree in computers science or equivalent professional qualifications is desirable
  2. Relevant certifications in hardware and software management and application required including Microsoft Certified Professional desirable

Knowledge and Experience:

  1. 7 Years of professional experience in network administration, support to management of hardware and software platforms, telecommunications facilities, and knowledge of windows based packages and application
  2. Good knowledge of PC/LAN operating systems, Microsoft windows, Corporate ICT security and viral protection systems, ERP
  3. Experience in client support and ability to provide inputs to business processes
  4. Familiarity with the UN system is an added advantage

Languages: 

  • Fluency in English is required, Fluency in local Pacific languages is an added advantage
