The Position:

The consultant will work with the project lead under the supervision of the Unit Head and the overall supervision of the Deputy Representative.

You will report to the Programme Specialist, Gender and Human Rights.

Job Purpose:

As a PBF project, communication/visibility is one of the critical strategies because the Secretary General’s Peace Building fund consolidates and manages coordination and partnerships through this approach. This was emphasized during the proposal development stage by the PBSO, resulting in the Ghana proposal having a full output on the production of IE&C and other communication materials for enhanced project visibility. Per the roles in the Programme Document, this specific output was assigned to UNFPA. In order to ensure that the items produced are of standard and in line with the PBSO communication guide, the Implementing Partners were informed during the inception meeting that all communication and visibility materials for the various interventions including the joint Security- Civilian campaigns, Women and Youth led peace campaigns, manuals, pull up banners, flyers etc. will be printed by the CO and distributed to them for the implementation of the activities. As such, all the budget lines for the production of the IE&C/visibility materials were included in the CO RRP. With the training manuals produced, and implementation of the joint campaigns drawing close, (as the 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary elections are approaching) it is expedient to recruit a consultant to develop innovative, user-friendly and well-tailored IE&C/visibility items for distribution to the IPs for programme implementation and for enhanced visibility of the PBF project in Ghana.

UNFPA therefore seeks to engage an individual consultant to develop various types of IE&C/visibility materials to support the implementation of the project. 

You would be responsible for:

The consultant is expected to design through innovative lenses, catchy and trendy forms of artwork for the following:

  1.  T-shirts for women and youth led peace campaigns 
  2. T-shirts for joint security civilian campaigns
  3. Innovative paraphernalia for joint peace campaigns and townhall meetings (ie. caps, hats, gender symbol as fan, Peace themed face masks, bumper stickers etc.)
  4. Pull up banners (To be distributed to the IPs)
  5. Led light box pull up banners for UNFPA CO (to be used for national peace advocacy during elections).
  6. Flyers for distribution during peace campaigns 
  7. Posters for community sensitization on the PBF project 
  8. HRBA Planning Manual and Checklist 
  9. Gender-responsive Safeguarding Training Guide 
  10. ‘Equal Engage’ guide 
  11. Flipchart copies of advocacy messages for community sensitization in PBF districts

Qualifications and Experience: 


 

Education:  

Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, visual arts or related field.  Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator and Canva. Knowledge of new forms of and immerging trends in the IE&C/ visibility space such virtual and augmented reality will be an added advantage. 


 

Knowledge and Experience: 

Minimum of 2 years work experience in graphic design with:

  1. Excellent design skills, knowledge in colour schemes and combination 
  2. Ability to develop unique concepts and ideas that align with community focused and transformative projects  
  3. Ability to communicate messages effectively through visuals  
  4. Good human relations skills 

Good knowledge of the UN system and the development sector.
