Job Purpose:
The Procurement Assistant is located in the Afghanistan Country Office (CO) and reports to the Procurement Administrative Associate.
 
Under the overall guidance of the International Operations Manager, and under the direct supervision of the Procurement Administrative Associate (G7), the Procurement Assistant ensures the execution of transparent and efficient procurement and logistics services and processes (Local Procurement) in the Country Office. The Procurement Assistant works in close collaboration with the Operations, Programme and projects staff in the CO and other UN agencies staff to exchange information and ensure consistent service delivery especially in the field of commodity security and procurement & supply chain management.  The incumbent also provides organisational functions of the office in terms of:  providing effective communications support to the office; ensure facilitation of knowledge building and management and logistical support.
 
Qualification and education:
Education:
  • Secondary Education with specialized training in procurement (CIPS certification) desirable, but not required.
  • University Degree in Business or Public Administration would be desirable, but it is not a requirement.
 
Knowledge and Experience: 
  • 5 years of progressively responsible administrative experience in procurement matters;
  • Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc), advance knowledge of automated procurement systems, experience in handling of web based management systems.
Languages: 
Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of local working languages is required.
