Position Summary:

Under the guidance and supervision of the Assistant Representative as the Head of the unit for Decentralized Offices (DOs), the Programme Analyst, Mbarara Decentralized Office will substantively contribute to the UNFPA programme activities in Western region of Uganda by participating in the integration of Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), Maternal and New-born Health (MNH), HIV/AIDS, Gender-Based Violence (GBV), gender and population issues in programmes and projects; including in humanitarian settings. S/he will work to keep the issues of SRHR,MNH, HIV/AIDS, GBV, gender, and population and development issues high on the agenda of the local governments, humanitarian settings and local development partners; optimize the allocation of resources; influence policies; and improve consistency and effectiveness of interventions.  S/he will work with the program colleagues at the country office on SRHR, MNH, HIV/AIDS, GBV and Gender Equality, Communications, Operations and Humanitarian teams to ensure a well-coordinated UNFPA program in the region. The Programme Analyst will be based in Mbarara.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Academic Requirements: Advanced university degree in Medicine, Population and Reproductive Health, Nursing and Midwifery, public health, demography, social science or other relevant field. .
  • 3 years of professional experience preferably in programme/project management in the public or private sector.
  • Languages: Fluency in oral and written English.
  • Computer skills: Proficiency in current office software applications.
  • Experience in Maternal Health and local government systems would be an added advantage.
