National Post - Programme Specialist, Maternal Health and Midwifery, Port au Prince, Haiti, NOC

The post is under the overall guidance and leadership of the Representative. Under the direct supervision of Deputy Representative and the technical guidance of the International Reproductive Health Programme Officer, the Maternal health and Midwifery Programme Manager plays the leading role in the formulation and delivery of all interventions related to maternal health and its strategic outcomes with a focus on midwifery particularly through the Midwifery project funded by Canada. He/sheworks in close collaboration with the staffs, Implemented partners, consultants. He / she places under his direct supervision the personnel recruited by UNFPA for the implementation of the related programme.

Education: 

Advanced degree in Midwifery, Public Health, Management or other related field.

Knowledge and Experience:

5 years of experience in training, supervising and coaching midwives and nurses
5 years of experience in managing maternal health programs
Good speaking and writing French and English skills
Have excellent verbal and written communication, and experience of public discourse
Mastery of electronic communication technologies, computer, presentations, internet, email
Increasingly responsible professional experience in developmental work, especially programme/Project management (planning, design, monitoring and evaluation, proposal development)
Demonstrated ability to refine programme design to ensure alignment of organizational programme objectives to national priorities/capacities.  
Experience in working in a multi-cultural environment is required, and working in a humanitarian context a strong asset,
Strong results orientation, with proven experience in using results-based management tools
Strong analytical and strategic thinking and sound judgment; team building and advocacy skills
Able to promote teamwork between Ministry of Health, project implementing partners, UNFPA and project closely associate UN Agencies, NGO’s as well as project funding donors
Proficiency in office software applications (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.)
Strong interest in development work, especially the mission of UNFPA and dedication to the principles of the United Nations;
Languages:  Fluency in French.  English may be required.  Creole is an asset
