Job Summary:

The Youth Programme Analyst post is located in Jordan Office in Amman. S/He will works Under the overall supervision of the UNFPA Representative and direct supervision of the Humanitarian Coordinator who will provide the overall direction and guidance for the country programme. The incumbent will work as part of the country team providing integrated programme and technical support within a systems strengthening approach.

The Youth Programme Analyst will supports the integrated country team through analysis of political, social and economic trends; formulation, management and evaluation of youth programme activities within his/her portfolio; and provision of policy advice. S/he supervises and coordinates programme support staff. The Youth Programme Analyst will also work in an integrated manner with other UN Organizations, technical staff in government and civil society organizations to ensure successful implementation of UNFPA- supported programmes. 

Job Purpose:

The responsibilities of Youth Programme Analyst will be ensuring the implementation of UNFPA Youth strategy and providing management support. These include preparing Youth programming documents, progress implementation reports, and workplans; ensuring quality and compliance with procedures and requirements; participating in in-house reviews and debriefings; and providing day-to-day support to the Youth Programme management needs, as required. In addition, the analyst contributes to building strategic partnerships and resource mobilization. 

Education:

Advanced degree in public health, medicine, sociology, demography, economics, international relations, international development, public administration, management or other related field. 

Knowledge and Experience:

Two years of increasingly in Social and or youth development or any relevant field;

Substantive knowledge and practical experience in population, reproductive and sexual health programming.

Sound knowledge of the social and cultural realities of the region.

Strong research and analytical skills.

Demonstrable knowledge of youth issues including reproductive health issues and/or protection in development and humanitarian settings, and of humanitarian emergency operations and roles/responsibilities of humanitarian actors;

Experience in program management;

Field experience is a strong asset.

Familiarity with UN procedures and working methods, particularly with UNFPA’s agenda, policies and procedures, is highly desirable.

Languages:

Proficiency in English is required. Advanced Arabic is an asset.

Other Desirable Skills:

Initiative, strong conceptual abilities, sound judgment, strong interest in humanitarian work, especially the mission of the United Nations Population Fund and dedication to the principles of the United Nations.
