Job Summary

The position holder will provide programmatic and technical support to the East and Southern Africa (ESA) regional office and country offices to better implement UNFPA’s Global Strategy on Adolescents and Youth for accelerating progress towards UNFPA’s transformative results.

The position holder will report directly to the Regional Health Systems Advisor, UNFPA, East and Southern Africa Regional Office (ESARO).

Qualifications and Experience

Education:   

Post-graduate University Degree or equivalent in public health, medicine, sociology, social work, demography, gender, economics, international relations, international development, public administration, management or other related field.

Knowledge and Experience: 

• Five years of professional experience in developmental work; 

• Substantive knowledge and practical experience in population, sexual and reproductive health, youth and gender advocacy, policy and programming;

• Strong communications and writing skills in English is required. Working knowledge of French and/or Portuguese an asset.

Languages: 

Fluency in English. Working knowledge of French and/or Portuguese an asset.
