Position Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the Representative and Deputy Representative, the ASRH Programme Specialist takes a leading role in providing technical inputs and guidance to the ASRH Programme component, promotion of ICPD Agenda and progress on SDGs, in line with UNFPA’s policies and procedures, the United Nations Partnership Framework (UNPF) and the 8th National Socio-Economic Development Plan (NSEDP). He/she is also responsible for the day-to-day technical oversight of programme as well as finance and personnel under the adolescents section.
Job Purpose:
In close collaboration with the Representative and Deputy Representative, the ASRH Programme Specialist provides technical inputs, direction and support to strengthen coordination, partnership, capacity development, policy dialogue and developing guidelines for an integrated ARH approach to addressing the needs of young people, including adolescents’ sexual and reproductive health and rights. The Incumbent will support to operationalize ARH policies and guidelines in selected provinces, documenting lessons learned and support to develop scale up plan with a focus on improving access to RMNCH care for adolescents and young people. Special attention will go to reaching hard-to-reach adolescent girls.

Qualifications and Experience
Education:
Post-graduate University Degree or equivalent in public health, medicine, sociology, or other related field.
Knowledge and Experience:
Five years of increasingly responsible professional experience in developmental work
Substantive knowledge and practical experience in adolescent sexual and reproductive health, gender and HIV/AIDS programming
Strong communications and writing skills in English Field experience in adolescent health and or work with Adolescents and youth in a developing country is mandatory
Experience in UN joint programming process particularly in the area of common country programming and or joint programmes would be an asset
Familiarity with the regional culture and practices is an added advantage
Languages:
Fluency in English is required; Working knowledge of another official UN language is desirable.
