Job Summary:
The position is responsible for improved information management to feed into elaboration of programming strategies, humanitarian funding processes, mainstreaming GBV into other sectors, and in providing a stronger evidence base for advocacy and preparing situation reports (“sitreps”).
The position works in an integrated manner with other UN Organizations, with UNFPA Humanitarian Emergency Unit and with GBV data organizations (DGOs) to ensure successful implementation of the GBVIMS and emergency related information management system, with the aim of strengthening GBV sub-cluster coordination and the overall GBV prevention and response in South Sudan.
Job Purpose:
Under the overall direction of the UNFPA Representative for South Sudan and direct supervision of the GBV Sub-cluster Coordinator, the position is responsible for leading and managing GBV and emergency related information management system function including strengthening and maintaining the effective functioning of GBV Information Management System (GBVIMS).
Education:
⦁ Advanced university degree (masters) in any of the following fields: statistics, social work and social administration, development studies, social sciences, demography and population studies, public/community health, gender studies or related field.
Knowledge and Experience:
⦁ A minimum of 7 years of progressive work experience in humanitarian and/or development work, 1-2 years of which should have been achieved in working with the UN or International or Regional Organisations.
⦁ At least 3 years of work experience in the area of statistics/data management and use or research. Previous experience in GBV information management system is added value.
⦁ Practical experience in GBV and/or RH programme development and management and technical knowledge and experience in GBV prevention and response using a survivor-centered approach highly desirable.
⦁ Familiarity with Excel, desktop publishing software, and basic website management.
Languages:
⦁ Fluency in English is required. Working knowledge of Arabic is highly desirable.
