The Programme Specialist, HIV/AIDS works with an inter-disciplinary team ensuring that HIV prevention is integrated into key UNFPA programmes i.e. SRH, youth and gender-transformative programming, population dynamics, and other related issues with the focus on key populations, including humanitiarian preparedness and response.
The specialist collaborates closely and recieves inputs from Programme Advisors on the overall programme strategy and ensures HIV issues and priorities are mainstreamed within the countries' and regional programme interventions.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Education: Advanced university degree in public health, medicine, demography, gender, economics, health education, international relations, international development, social sciences or other related field.
Knowledge and Experience:
- 7 years of relevant increasingly responsible professional experience in relevant areas to HIV prevention, of which three years at the international level;
- Substantive knowledge and practical experience in HIV prevention, population and development, sexual and reproductive health, and gender;
- Experience in programme and/or technical assistance with the UN System;
- Strong verbal and written communications in English/or and in the relevant UN working language in the region;
- Familiarity with management and monitoring tools is desirable;
- Familiarity with ICT/ERP; and
- Field experience is strongly desirable.
- Languages: Fluency in English is required.
