Position Summary

UNFPA Supplies – UNFPA’s largest thematic trust fund – helps countries build stronger health systems and widen access to a reliable supply of contraceptives and life-saving medicines for maternal health. Since its inception in 2007, UNFPA Supplies has mobilized over US$1 billion to support national action to reach poor and marginalized women and girls in countries with high unmet need for family planning and high rates of maternal death. UNFPA has given top priority to strengthening the Programme’s strategy so that it is better able to meet and support the global community in reaching our shared FP2020 and SDG aspirations.

UNFPA Supplies seeks to ensure, over time, the sustainability of national reproductive health commodity security (RHCS) efforts, with a focus on enhancing national health systems for supply chain management and the delivery of reproductive health services, including family planning services, with a particular attention to reaching marginalized populations. 

The Project Management Specialist works under the overall direction and leadership of the Chief, Commodity Security Branch, who is the direct supervisor of this post. In all activities performed, s/he fosters collaboration within TD and other relevant divisions and offices to ensure timeliness of deliverables.

Education:

Advanced University Degree in Administration, Management, Public Administration, International Relations, or other field directly related to the substantive area of work.

Knowledge and experience:

  • Minimum of five years of relevant professional experience;
  • Strong programme management experience;
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multi-stakeholder processes;
  • Familiarity with UNFPA/UN systems;
  • Proven ability to produce demonstrable results;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English.
