The Position:

The Resource Planning Associate, Business Tools serves in the Division for Management Services, Strategic Resource Planning Branch (SRPB). The incumbent reports to the Resource Planning Specialist, Business Tools. The Branch ensures transparent, holistic, and efficient planning of UNFPA’s financial resources to support the achievement of the strategic plan. By taking a comprehensive perspective on the organization’s resources, comprising both core and non-core funding, SRPB helps both maximize impact and safeguard the financial sustainability of the organization. The Branch plays a key role in the integrated planning, distribution and management of financial resources for both programme and management activities and the monitoring of budget utilization.

Job Purpose:

The incumbent supports the provision of tools, analytical products and expertise in the areas of resource planning and costing to achieve optimal use of both core and non-core funds through the following areas of activities:

1. Budget planning and formulation and integrated funds allocation

2. Capacity building, training, advisory services and technical guidance

3. Policies and tools for resource planning and management

4. Support decision-making and UNFPA strategic priorities

Qualifications and Experience: 

Education:  

Completion of secondary education with supplemental training in business, financial management or accounting.

Knowledge and Experience: 

  • 7 years of professional experience in resource planning, funds management, budgeting, finance, or similar.
  • Proficiency in the use of Excel, Word processing and computer applications.

Other Desirable Skills:

  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English. 
  • Strong research and analytical skills. 
  • Expert knowledge of ERP systems.
  • Excellent computer and office software skills including in Microsoft applications, e.g. Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint, are necessary.
  • Familiarity with UN procedures and working methods, policies and procedures, is desirable

Languages: 

Fluency in English is required; working knowledge of other UN official languages, especially French or Spanish is an asset.
