The Position:
The position of Senior Resource Mobilization Adviser, Team Leader for Multilateral Partnerships and Business Development, is located in the Resource Mobilization Branch (RMB), Division of Communications and Strategic Partnerships (DCS), UNFPA headquarters, in New York. The incumbent of the post reports to the Chief of RMB.

Job Purpose:
The Resource Mobilization Branch is responsible for the organization’s resource mobilization efforts, thereby increasing UNFPA’s capacity to implement its mandate. It is responsible for maintaining, nurturing and developing traditional and emerging donor relations to secure sufficient funding for the implementation of UNFPA’s Strategic Plan as well as contributing to the organization’s knowledge and advocacy for financing the three transformative results. It follows and analyzes national and international trends and discussions on various means to mobilize and leverage resources and the development of new funding sources and mechanisms. The Branch works closely with Regional Offices and Country Offices to guide local and regional resource mobilization efforts. It obtains and shares intelligence about donor interests and priorities in order to broaden the donor base and stimulate creative fund-raising activities and harnesses best practice to increase impact within the funding to financing approach.
Under the overall guidance and supervision of the RMB Chief, and in line with UNFPA’s current and emerging Strategic Plan and UNFPA’s corporate Resource Mobilization Strategy, the incumbent performs tasks to achieve the following corporate results:
● Continued strong positioning of UNFPA in strategic UN partnerships, programmatic collaboration and joint funding arrangements
● Scaled-up strategic partnerships with multilateral development partners contribute to UNFPA revenue and acceleration of results
● Meaningful and coordinated broad-based engagement of UNFPA in leveraging significant additional financing for SRHR
Work relations
The Team Leader, Multilateral Partnerships and Business Development fosters a collaborative, client-oriented approach to his/her work in RMB. (S)he actively collaborates with teams across UNFPA, contributes to breaking down silos and improving cross-unit communications within the Fund, at HQ, regional and country levels.
In addition to Country and Regional Offices, internal partners include TD, DMS, OAIS, PSD, OED/LU, MCB and SPB, working closely at all levels.
In terms of external partners, the incumbent works closely with structures and entities in the UN system, International Financial Institutions, especially Multilateral Development Banks, Thematic Financing Facilities and Inter-Governmental Organizations, existing and potential public and private investors and multi-partner platforms.
Requirements:
Qualifications and Experience
Education:
Advanced university degree in the Social Sciences, Political Science, Economics, or International Relations.
Knowledge and Experience:
• At least 10 years of experience at national and international level, of which, 5-7 years must be related to Resource Mobilization and partnership building, and in a managerial/leadership position leading team, as well as dealing with development assistance and donor relations, and including a good track record in fund-raising and management of funding instruments;
• Excellent English-language writing and communications skills.
• Familiarity with UNFPA programmes and policies, knowledge of international development financing, and international politics;
• Excellent negotiation skills, advocacy and public speaking;
Languages:
Fluency in English is required; Working knowledge of other official UN languages, preferably French and/or Spanish, is desirable.
