The position:
UNFPA maintains a dedicated presence in the Cox’s Bazar district with an office and personnel though dedicated GBViE District Programme Officer to support Cox Bazar team and Implementing partners for implementing and managing emergency projects is inadequate. The GBViE District Programme Officer will building capacity of implementing partners, support and coordinate GBV program implementation and monitor the quality of GBViE programs.
The Gender Based Violence in Emergency (GBViE) District Programme Officer oversees UNFPA supported GBViE Program interventions in Cox’s Bazar. She will support GBViE team to design and develop context specific innovative and evidence-based model of GBV specific prevention and response program in line with GBV Guiding principle and UNFPA Minimum Standards for Prevention and Response to Gender-Based Violence in Emergencies. Additionally, she will oversee information collection and advocacy related to GBV and reproductive health gaps and services. This position technically supports Case Managers and Case Workers in Women Friendly Spaces and SRH facilities under the direct supervision of the GBViE Specialist and overall guidance of Gender Unit Chief. As GBV requires a multi sectored response, the GBViE District Programme Officer will also be required to encourage smooth communication, collaboration and coordination among partners from the protection, health, legal and psychosocial sectors working to end violence against women and girls.
Requirements:
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Women’s Studies, Public Health, Law, Humanitarian Affairs or any other related Social Science field.
Knowledge and Experience:
3-5 years’ work experience in development field specially in gender/ human rights/protection issues. Additional/Higher degree can be compensate the required experience.
Good working knowledge of language spoken by Rohingya refugee population is a requirement.
Clear understanding of gender, human rights, issues surrounding violence against women and girls
Demonstrated understanding of and ability to maintain confidentiality and respect for clients
Experience facilitating trainings and workshops and mentoring others
Positive and professional attitude, including ability to lead and work well in a team setting
Strong ability to organize work, meet deadlines, maintain composure, prioritize work under pressure, coordinate multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail
Personal qualities: Works well in and promotes teamwork, comfortable in a multi-cultural environment, flexible and able to handle pressure well.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and respect in Women Friendly Spaces and at all times is essential.
Excellent communication, listening and observation skills, including ability to create trust, support and respect.
Demonstrated commitment to women’s empowerment and protection through current/ previous volunteer or paid work in women’s group, girls clubs or other relevant experience is an added advantage.
Computer literate, including Microsoft Word and Excel and Power point
Fluency ( written and spoken) in English is required
Excellent interpersonal, negotiating and diplomatic skills, including experience working with colleagues of multicultural background
Experience in adolescents and youth programming will be an asset.
