The Position

Family Planning is one of the key priorities under the National Development Plan II (2015/16 – 2020/21) towards attaining the Government of Uganda’s Vision 2040. The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) also places FP as one of the key programmes for the Government of Uganda/UNFPA 8th Country Programme (2016-2020). The 2018-2021 UNFPA strategic plan, has Family Planning as one of the three key transformative results aiming at the reduction of unmet need for FP to zero (Transformative Result Number 2). UNFPA is working with UFPC on creating a favourable FP policy environment that would facilitate the provision FP services in both development and humanitarian settings.

You will therefore be playing an important role of supporting UFPC in advancing the FP policy advocacy agenda through identifying policy gaps and facilitating the policy advocacy processes among the consortium members. You will be responsible for ensuring a collective and coordinated FP policy advocacy effort among individual member organisations. This will also be done in concert with other FP policy advocacy stakeholders including the relevant development partners.

How you can make a difference:

UNFPA is the lead UN agency for delivering a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe and every young person’s potential is fulfilled. UNFPA’s new strategic plan (2018-2021), focuses on three transformative results: to end preventable maternal deaths; end unmet need for family planning; and end gender-based violence and harmful practices.

In a world where fundamental human rights are at risk, we need principled and ethical staff, who embody these international norms and standards, and who will defend them courageously and with full conviction.

UNFPA is seeking candidates that transform, inspire and deliver high impact and sustained results; we need staff who are transparent, exceptional in how they manage the resources entrusted to them and who commit to deliver excellence in programme results.
