About Us
UNFPA, the United Nations Populations Fund, is the lead UN agency for delivering a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe and every young person’s potential is fulfilled.

How You Can Make a Difference
In China, the maternal mortality ratio decreased from 94.7 per 100,000 live births in 1990 to 23.2 per 100,000 live births in 2013. While substantive progress has been made, some gaps still remain in key areas of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). Reproductive cancers are frequent causes of mortality for women, and breast cancer is the most common cancer. Incidence of certain sexually transmitted infections (STIs), like syphilis, is rising. While overall HIV prevalence is low, it is increasing among young people and some key populations.
