The Position:

The selected professional will report to Coordinator of the EWEC Secretariat and work in close collaboration with the Communications and Advocacy Specialist to provide strategic partnerships, administrative, financial and logistical support on a variety of efforts to strategically position EWEC in a shifting landscape and drive the implementation of its Global Strategy for Women’s, Children’s and Adolescents’ Health.

Launched by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon during the United Nations Millennium Development Goals Summit in September 2010, Every Woman Every Child  is an unprecedented global movement that mobilizes and intensifies international and national action by governments, multilaterals, the private sector and civil society to address the major health challenges facing women, children and adolescents around the world. The movement puts into action the Global Strategy for Women’s, Children’s and Adolescents’ Health, which presents a roadmap to ending all preventable deaths of women, children and adolescents within a generation and ensuring their well-being.

Job Purpose:

You will play a vital role in supporting the EWEC Coordinator and EWEC team members in managing the commitment making process, financial reporting efforts, development of donors’ report, and by providing substantive and logistical support for strategic engagement of the High-Level Steering Group for EWEC and advocacy-related events.

Requirements:

Qualifications and Experience

Education:  

Advanced university degree in business administration, and/or public health, and/or international relations.

Knowledge and Experience: 

2 years’ professional experience, preferably at international level, in the area of international development and with a focus on Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health (RMNCAH). Knowledge of the UN system a plus.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is desirable; basic research skills and excellent interpersonal, communication and time management skills required. Self-starter, proactive, passion for the issues.

Languages: 

Fluency in English essential; working knowledge of another UN language desirable.
