Job Purpose

The purpose of the Succession Management Specialist post is to support data driven decision-making in filling UNFPA’s key leadership positions.  The Specialist plays a key role in developing and implementing tailored solutions to address succession planning challenges for mission critical positions to ensure UNFPA’s ability to deliver on its mandate. 

Working closely with HR Strategic Partners, and under direct supervision of the Chief, Talent Management Branch, the Specialist provides solutions to evolving succession management needs including coordinating UNFPA’s Leadership Pool for senior international staff in Country Offices. The incumbent will work with both internal and external stakeholders. The post of Succession Management Specialist is located in the Talent Management Branch of the Division for Human Resources (DHR) in New York.  The Succession Management Specialist reports to the Chief, Talent Management.  

Job Requirements

Education: 

An advanced degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Training, Organisational Development, Psychology, ICT, Education or other relevant social sciences. 

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Minimum of five years of relevant progressively responsible experience  in HR management, in particular related to workforce planning and recruitment at the international level;
  • Demonstrated professional competence in the delivery of innovative and cost-effective workforce planning and succession management in a complex multicultural environment; 
  • Knowledge of standard software application
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent client service skills
  • Ability to integrate in teams
