Job Summary
The Technical Analyst – Innovation post is located in the Technical Division, New York Headquarters Office and reports to the Innovation Coordinator. The Technical Analyst assists in the design, planning and management of UNFPA’s Innovation activities.
Job Purpose
Technical support to the management of the Innovation Fund in order to implement the UNFPA Innovation Strategy.
UNFPA recognize innovation as critical to accelerating progress towards global development aspirations, and for reaching its three corporate transformative results: to end preventable maternal deaths, end unmet need for family planning, and end violence gender-based violence and all harmful practices, including female genital mutilation and child, early and forced marriage.
UNFPA promotes innovation to improve programming by:
(1) creating innovative solutions with partners to address bottlenecks;
(2) scaling up innovations that have proven to be successful;
(3) partnering with innovators from the public and private sectors; and
(4) institutionalizing a culture of innovation in UNFPA.
The Technical Analyst – Innovation provides support to operationalize the UNFPA innovation strategy, including by:
1.Supporting the implementation and monitoring of innovation activities;
2.Support activities to develop capacity for innovation within UNFPA by synthesizing and documenting findings and lessons learned, success stories and good practices;
3.Communicating internally and externally achievements and insights of the UNFPA innovation initiative through social media, internal web platforms and the public UNFPA innovation webpage.
4.Provide administrative and coordination support to the Innovation Fund.
Education:
Post-graduate university degree, or equivalent, in public health, social science, demography, public administration, international development or a related field.
Knowledge and Experience:
1-2 years of relevant work experience within the innovation landscape desirable;
Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills;
Knowledge of UNFPA’s core mandate desirable;
Languages:
Fluency in English is required; knowledge of another UN language is an asset.
