Position Summary

Working under the overall supervision of the UNFPA Representative and the direct supervision of the Project Coordinator, the Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn and Health (RMNCH) Technical Specialist post is located in the country office.  S/he is part of a team that will ensure the technical quality of the Noble Energy EG Ltd-funded project on Maternal and Neonatal Mortality Reduction in Equatorial Guinea, which contributes to achieving the Government of Equatorial Guinea ‘Road Map for the Acceleration of the Reduction of Maternal and Neonatal Mortality in Equatorial Guinea, 2008-2025’, as well as the ‘National Economic and Social Development Plan “2020”’.

Qualifications and Experience 

Job Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in any of the following: public health, medicine, social sciences or other related field ; the degree must be directly related to the substantive area identified in the job description of the post.
  • Five years of relevant and increasingly responsible experience in managing reproductive health or maternal health programmes. At least five years of national and/or international experience in advising on reproductive, maternal and newborn health, family planning, adolescent sexual and reproductive health, preferably with exposure to the UN Common System;
  • General knowledge of the principles and operational aspects of integrated reproductive health/maternal health care;
  • Strong understanding of global RMNCH policies, strategies and monitoring frameworks;
  • Experience in project design, management, and monitoring;
  • Familiarity with UN development programmes and working procedures, especially UNFPA policies and programming procedures, an asset.

Language skills

  • Strong presentation, communication, and writing skills in Spanish and English required;
  • Working knowledge of French desirable.
