This month, UNFPA joins the more than 150 organizations now publishing data to the International Aid Transparency Initiative registry, a voluntary, international, multi-stakeholder initiative that makes information about aid spending easier to find, compare and use by our stakeholders.
“UNFPA fully endorses the International Aid Transparency Initiative,” said UNFPA Executive Director Dr. Babatunde Osotimehin. “As a steward of donor funds, UNFPA has been entrusted by its stakeholders to deliver on certain agreed outcomes and results. The more that stakeholders – including donors, Member States, partners and ordinary citizens -- can see and understand how development funds are used, the greater the chance that these limited resources will be used effectively,” he added.
In addition to publishing on the IATI registry, UNFPA is also launching data.unfpa.org, within its own website, so that visitors can easily access key financial data of UNFPA’s ongoing projects around the world.
Together the information shared with the IATI registry as well as on data.unfpa.org represent UNFPA’s commitment to publish comprehensive, quality and timely information about aid flows and continue building the trust between UNFPA and its stakeholders.
