LOS ANGELES, CA — 7 DECEMBER 2021 — LVL, an international venue and content brand for esports and gaming, today announced Das Race Goal, the world’s first entertainment and social investment platform that combines the physical aspects of traditional soccer and RC racing with the virtual world of gaming.
The first event supports the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), co-organizer of the event, in the goal of raising awareness and financial support for the Skills For Life programmes, aimed at empowering and expanding access to critical services like education and healthcare for youth, especially girls and young women, across Latin America and the Caribbean.
Das Race Goal will premiere on Twitch via lvlglobal on December 12 at 10am PST / 7pm CET, hosted by Mónica Ferro, Chief of the Geneva Office at UNFPA. Six teams of three players, each featuring an influencer, an esports personality and a young gamer from Latin America and the Caribbean involved in UNFPA initiatives will compete in a real-life stadium at BMW Welt, situated near the headquarters of BMW, in Munich.
BMW has ramped up its presence in international esports over the past years and is a strong supporter of Das Race GOAL! Influencers and personalities related to BMW Esports' United in Rivalry teams will join the event, among them Cloud9 content creator Macaiyla, top female Fortnite player Olivia “Loeya” Sigg from Fnatic, Rocket League content creator Cailee "Cailee" Hastings from G2 Esports, and co-founder of OG, Captain Johan "N0tail" Sundstein.
Using cutting-edge technology, custom-built cars will be remotely controlled via the Internet from all over the world. Players will be able to score goals, collect power-ups, and activate special effects in this futuristic gameplay.
“We've seen in the past how much the global gaming community can achieve when we work together. Combining a unique entertaining real-life video game with an amazing cause is something that truly excites us and will definitely resonate with the gaming community. Plenty of memes and plenty of money for a good cause with the best esports teams joining in for the fun at an incredible venue that is BMW Welt— this is without a doubt the best form of entertainment on Twitch," commented Dorian Gorr, Managing Director of Veritas.
Das Race Goal is a social impact platform created to align with the UN’s 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. This event is the first in an ongoing joint effort created to bring awareness and funds to support the most left behind young people, to empower them to make informed choices about their bodies and lives, and to participate in transforming their families, communities, societies, and economic systems.
UNFPA’s Skills for Life programmes inform, protect, and support young people to grow up safely in countries like the Dominican Republic, Paraguay, Guatemala, Bolivia and Mexico. These programmes engage community leaders to run safe spaces for youth to learn about their human rights, their bodies and sexual and reproductive health, age-appropriate comprehensive sexuality education including their right to say ‘no’, how to promote gender equal norms in their lives and communities, and more.
“Investing in a girl or young woman is investing in her entire community and our common future. We are thrilled to see the gaming community rallying together to make a difference in the lives of young people, particularly women and girls, across Latin America and the Caribbean,” commented Dr. Natalia Kanem, UNFPA Executive Director. “This innovative partnership will reach a new generation of young leaders and help them create the world they want to see,” she added.
“This event that combines the digital and physical worlds is not just a one-time opportunity, but a longer-term partnership that has the potential to integrate social impact actions, backed by wide-ranging partnerships and collective commitment to address the needs, build the agency and advance the rights of people in all their diversity around the world aligned with the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development,” commented Thomas Fellger, icon group CEO and Founding Partner.
