The combination of conflict and insecurity, displacement, disease outbreaks and climate disasters in Central African Republic (CAR) has created a humanitarian crisis that is affecting an estimated 2.8 million people, include 672,000 women of reproductive age.
People displaced from the war in Sudan continue to cross the border into CAR. Many of those fleeing the conflict are women and girls, who face heightened risks of gender-based violence (GBV) and exploitation, and limited access to essential services such as health care, including sexual and reproductive health (SRH).
During November, a total of 12,807 individuals were reached with GBV prevention, mitigation, and response activities. With support from four implementing partners, 771 dignity kits were also distributed to women and girls.
UNFPA is appealing for US$19,251,816 in 2024 to provide SRH and GBV services in CAR. As of November 2024, US$10,217,060 has been received, leaving a funding gap of US$9,034,756.
