UNFPA Democratic Republic of the Congo Situation Report - Humanitarian Response Scale up: Ituri, North Kivu and South Kivu Provinces (01-31 September 2023)

Ongoing conflict and frequent natural disasters in the DRC have displaced 5.8 million people in North Kivu, South Kivu, and Ituri provinces. In the eastern region, 7.4 million people require urgent health assistance, overwhelming a fragile healthcare system due to multiple disease outbreaks. Access to Sexual and Reproductive Health services remains extremely challenging for women and girls. Access to sexual and reproductive health services remains extremely challenging for women and girls, and sexual violence has surged in Eastern DRC in 2023, particularly affecting women and girls in displacement sites. UNFPA is targeting a total of 1.3 million people, supporting safe spaces for women and girls, health facilities, and psychosocial care providers.
